EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1660), DAISHO SIGNED MUTSU DAIJO MIYOSHI NAGAMICHI

Dai: Sugata: with shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune and chu-kissaki; nagasa: 2 shaku, 2 sun, 5 bu (68.4cm.); fumbari: 0.9cm. Jihada: ko-itame. Hamon: extremely strong nie-deki gonome midare. Boshi: ko-maru. Nakago, keitai: slender and ubu; yasurime: kiri-yasuri; nakagojiri: kurijiri; mekugi-ana: one; katana-mei: Mutsu Daijo Miyoshi Nagamichi.

Sho: Sugata: with shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune and chu-kissaki; nagasa: 1 shaku, 7 sun, 8 bu (53.9cm.). Jihada: o-itame. Hamon: strong nioi-deki gonome midare with choji and ashi. Boshi: ko-maru. Nakago, keitai: regular and ubu; yasurime: katte-sagari; nakagojiri: kuri-jiri; mekugi-ana: one; katana-mei: Mutsu Daijo Miyoshi Nagamichi.

Daisho koshirae: a black lacquer saya; paired tsuka mounted with gilt menuki formed as branches of persimmon, and shibuichi fuchi-kashira decorated with designs of Chinese sages, each signed Sakai Hideyoshi (a student of Omori Teruhide), circa 1790; an iron tsuba decorated in relief with foliage, each signed Choshu Hagi [no] ju Chikanaga, circa 1800, heights 8.3, 8.2 cm., widths 7.7, 7.2 cm. ; and a shakudo nanako kozuka decorated with a flowering plant design. Old chips and dents to the saya. Brocade and silk storage bags.
