EARLY EDO PERIOD (17TH CENTURY), KINZOGANMEI, HANKEI

Sugata: with shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune and chu-kissaki; nagasa: 2 shaku, 3 sun (69.7 cm.); sori: koshi-zori of 1.5 cm.; horimono: kaki-nagashi futatsujibi on both sides. Jihada: koitame. Hamon: an exhuberant combination of midare, sudareba, sunagashi, sanjuba, yahazuba and tobiyaki in nioi and bright nie. Boshi: hakikake. Nakago keitai: suriage, tapering and with a moist, brown patina; yasurime: katte-sagari; nakagojiri: kiri-jiri; mekugi-ana: three; mei, katana-mei: kinzoganmei, Hankei.

Koshirae: roiro saya; Edo Kinko iron tsuba applied on both sides with scattered gold waterweeds and on the front with a copper design of a bridge for the strings of a koto, the reverse with the Genjimon for chapters 11 and 44 (Hanachirusato and Takegawa), mid-19th century, unsigned, height 8.1 cm; black-wrapped tsuka fitted with shakudo and gilt menuki of deer and a shakudo nanako fuchi-kashira set decorated with gold kiku and stylized foliage, unsigned, early 19th century.
