GALVEZ, BERNARDO DE, Captain-General of Louisiana and the Floridas. Letter signed ("Galvez," with paraph) to Daniel Clark, New Orleans, 23 July 1778, written on the lower half of page 2 of Clark's letter, New Orleans, 18 July 1778, together 2 pages, folio, a few small perforations from acidic ink, in Spanish (Clark's letter in French). Clark, a Louisiana merchant and landowner, and the uncle of the territorial delegate of the same name, writes to the Governor of the French province of Louisiana to complain of the debt owed him by one Guillaume Walker (sending a statement of account, not present), who had ignored a previous order from Galvez to satisfy the debt in full; Galvez orders the debtor to comply with the sum requested.
