(12 3/4 x 16 7/8 in.), original paper seal of Massachusetts affixed at left, repaired at central fold without loss, unobtrusively backed with linen, a few stains, headed at top: "By His Excellency John Hancock, Esq, Governor and Commander in Chief...," accomplished in manuscript. A commission for Simon Winship, Gentleman, "as a Second Lieutenant of the Third Company, commanded by Solomon Peirce in the third Regiment of Militia whereof Samuel Larson Esq. is Colonel."
