Provenance
J. Richardson, Jun. (L. 2170), with his inscription on the mount 'Cav. Ottavio Lioni, called the Padovanino, tho himself was born at Rome, because his Father Lodovico Lioni of/whom he was also Disciple, was a Paduan. The son ex celled in Portraits of a small size, comonly on Bleu paper in Red and Black chalk, touch'd with white, with such an air of nature, that there were hardly any people of Quality, Popes, Cardinals, & Secular Princes, that did not make a point of being represented by him. These Elegant Little Por: :traits are notwithstanding very uncommon to be met with, as they continue allways in the Families for which they were done; & particularly the Prince Borghese's have an astonishing number, not only of their own; but having been very curious of collecting all they c. pick up on different occasions that have offered themselves.
