The treatment of the children's hair, the way the feet are drawn and the use of red and black chalk can, as Christopher Comer noted on the basis of a photograph, be compared with early Bellange drawings. The type of Saint John the Baptist is comparable with figures in drawings in Saint Petersburg and at Yale, J.
