Worked in thirty-six blocks of variously alternating printed cotton calicoes including compass stars, and glazed cotton chintz including bunches of flowers, a bird of paradise and several "Moorish" and "Hindoo" squares, some with signatures; enclosed in a printed cotton calico border appliqued as an irish chain, the border with conforming quilting, the central field with diagonal quilt (backing and ground
