Each with incised serpentine crest with scroll-carved ears centering a central shaped arch and lobed shell above a shaped splat with volutes and high base flanked by incised serpentine stiles, over a trapezoidal slip-seat and molded rails with flattened arch skirt and central drop pendant, on cabriole legs with shell-carved knee, carved volute returns and ball-and-claw feet, appear to retain original corresponding slip-seats, marked as the chairs with Roman numeral I, X--40 1/2in. high, the seat 20 3/4in. wide, 16 1/4in. deep (2)
