The form of this serving table relates to two labled tables made by New York cabinetmaker Michael Allison (Montgomery, American Furniture (New York, 1966), fig. 339). The reeded legs, turreted corners, central shelf and ferrule ball feet are shared by a number of New York serving and chamber tables. This is one of the few examples with a galleried back and two long drawers rather than two short drawers above a long drawer. Related examples are illustrated in Cornelius, Furniture Masterpieces by Duncan Phyfe (New York, 1923), plate XLIX; Girl Scout Loan Exhibition (New York, 1929), fig. 784; McClelland, Duncan Phyfe and the English Regency (New York, 1939), plates 113, 131; Montgomery, American Furniture (New York, 1966), fig. 339; American Furniture From Isreal Sack Collection, vol. IV, 1974, p3664, p. 933.
