Lot Essay

Cf. Robin Reilly, Wedgwood, Vol. I, figs. 226 A, B, C for a series of marked Wedgwood examples decorated after the same engravings. Illustrated are three tea canisters similar in shape but with slightly variant covers. The engraving of 'The Tea party' on the present canister is closest to the version found on a jug in the collection of the Buten Museum which also depicts youthful figures and features a Dog to the left of the bench.
