With gilt ball finial and loop handles, the creamware body marbleized in red, brown and black slip, raised on stepped black basaltes plinth, Jacobs Collection no. 220 (some restoration to handles, restored rim chips, some retouching to gilding)--9 7/8in. (25.2cm.) high

As noted in Wedgwood's First Shapes Book, shape no. 115 was produced in seven sizes varying from 6in. to 16 1/2in. high. It is listed as having been produced in Pebble, Gilt and Black. The present example has slightly variant handles, most likely artistic license taken by the illustrator.
