Lot Essay

A photo card in the Frick Art Reference Library, New York, notes that the present painting is by Neri di Bicci and that the composition derives from a composition by Fra Filippo Lippi. Richard Offner made the attribution at a lecture given at Mr. Grigg's home on January 19, 1925 where notes were taken by Helen Clay Frick.
