Lot Essay

Sold with a photocopy of a photo certificate dated July 23, 1942, from A.W. Delen, as studio of Rubens. Delen here notes that the present lot is a replica of the painting in the collection of Baron Edmond de Rothschild, Paris, which Max Rooses has called a studio work. The Rothschild painting is thought to have been executed in part by Jan Wildens and Frans Snyders. Delen believes the same may be true of the present painting.

Sold also with a photocopy of a photo certificate dated July 1950 from Alfred Stange, dated July 1950, as studio of Rubens
