Sold with a photocopy of a photo certificate dated July 23, 1942, from A.W. Delen, as studio of Rubens. Delen here notes that the present lot is a replica of the painting in the collection of Baron Edmond de Rothschild, Paris, which Max Rooses has called a studio work. The Rothschild painting is thought to have been executed in part by Jan Wildens and Frans Snyders. Delen believes the same may be true of the present painting.
