Comprising one armchair and seven side chairs, each arched back centering a crest, over a padded leather panel and incised stiles, the padded leather seat on turned tapering fluted legs and casters, five chairs stamped 'MACKENZIE & MITCHELL, EDINBURGH' and numbered '6618' (8)

While there is no information available about this firm, a mahogany footstool dating to circa 1840 is impressed with the same maker's oval stamp (F. Bamford, 'Dictionary of Edinburgh Furniture Makers 1660-1840', F.H.S.J., vol. XIX, 1983, p. 83).
