The Rolls, patented by Leon Hatot, the celebrated watch and jewelry designer, was produced by Blancpain and was one of the first production self-winding wristwatches. The movement, mounted within two grooves inside the case, literally rolls back and forth lengthwise within the case with each movement of the wearer's arm. The top of the case lifts so that the hands can be set.
