Lot Essay

Formerly attributed to Fabrizio Galliari, Peter Fuhring suggested that this is by Basoli. He cited drawings of Chinese squares and pagodas; one in the Accademia Clementina, Bologna was engraved and published in 1810 and the other in the Gabinetto dei Disegni, Bologna. Fuhring does not rule out the possibility that the present drawing is by a studio hand
