Of rectangular form with canted corners, the base, sides and hinged cover with geometric panels of black and translucent blue enamel on a moire ground within white enamel and gold borders, with pale blue and black enamel leaf decoration at the corners, the hinged cover with a stiff leaf border centering a square cartouche bordered with pearls enclosing a painted scene of the Abduction of the Priestess Chariclea by Theagenes with the help of the Egyptian Calasiris, marked on interior base and cover--3¾in.(9.5cm.) long
