Of circular form on four massive splayed lion's-paw feet raised on a shaped square pedestal chased with a band of laurel and paterae, the lower part chased with flutes with central pendant acanthus bud, the sides applied with laurel swags with ribbons and lion masks with beaded, egg and dart and Greek key borders between, with two angular part acanthus handles, the domed cover applied with a band of Greek key and surmounted by an acanthus bud finial issuing from an applied acanthus calyx, the front engraved with an Imperial crown, the cover engraved with the Imperial Austro-Hungarian arms against drapery mantling, marked on base--length over handles 21in.(53.4cm.)

The arms are those of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in use between 1912 and its dissolution in 1918. The arms incorporate all twenty Crown lands as follows; the Archduchy of Austria, the Archduchy of Austria below the Enns, the Archduchy of Austria above the Enns, the Duchy of Steiermark, the Duchy of Karnten, the Duchy of Krain, the Kingdom of Bohemia, the Kingdom of Galicia, the Kingdom of Dalmatia, the Duchy of Upper and Lower Silesia, the Duchy of Salzburg, the Margraviate of Moravia, the Royal County of Tirol, the Region of Vorarlberg, the Margraviate of Istria, the Duchy of Bukovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Royal County of Gorz and Gradiska and the Imperial town of Trieste.
