Of rectangular form with molded borders, engraved above with the Royal Arms, containing a portrait photograph of Queen Mary by Hay Wrightson, 41 New Bond Street, signed and dated 1931, the reverse set with an engraved card with the Royal Arms above Buckingham Palace, inscribed In remembrance of a charming afternoon spent at Sandridgebury from Mary R. June 30, 1931, and an envelope addressed to Percival Griffiths, marked on side--17½in.(44.5cm.) long

Lot Essay

Percival D. Griffiths was one of the leading connoisseurs of his day and assembled a celebrated collection of English furniture, mostly mid-Georgian carved mahogany examples as well as early walnut pieces. His collection was sold by Christie's in 1939.
