Lot Essay

The elegant form of this bookcase with its Palladian pediment, oval medallion inlay and trellis-fret glazing bars, typifies the George III style of the 1780s. The pattern for the glazing features in The Cabinet-Maker's London Book of Prices, London, 1788, pl. 15, no.1
