A VICTORIAN GEMSET AND ENAMEL PENDANT

The hexagonal peridot in blue, white and red enamel border embellished with diamonds and pearl-set trefoils, with suspension link en suite, engraved foliate back and detachable tapering octagonal peridot drop,
circa 1880, in the style of Ernesto Rinzi, 9.0cm. overall height

Provenance: Given by the present owner's grandfather, J.O. Fairlie of Myres, to his wife in 1880 on his appointment as private Chamberlain to Pope Leo XIII.

Ernesto Rinzi (1836-1909) is thought to have been brought to London from Italy by Castellani in the 1860's. His work is very close to that of his contemporary, Carlo Giuliano
