A FOUR PIECE SILVER TEA SERVICE, maker's mark of Gorham, apparently 1871, comprising teapot, cream jug, two handled covered sugar bowl and two handled waste bowl, each tapering cylindrical on rim foot, monogrammed, the shoulder flat chased with alternating vertical band of stylized cat-tails and bell flowers, the flaring collar chased and engraved with undulating acorns, roses, grapes and clover on finely matted ground, with partly reeded, stylized anthemion capped, angular handle, the pot with conforming straight spout, the hinged, slightly raised cover with conforming calyx, topped by kneeling fairy finial--the teapot 9in. (22.8cm.) high, gross weight 68oz. (4)
