A note states that this map was carried on the H.M.S. Peacock which being sunk in the war of 1812 was transferred to H.M.S. Penguin. A second note by Captain Bidde states that U.S. Sloop "Hornet" captured the Penguin Jan. 1815 and confiscated the map.
