Lot Essay

[Laid in:] Typed Postcard Signed from Steinbeck to Phyllis Higgins discussing the rarity of this book and suggesting a possibility for obtaining a copy. [postmarked Los Catos, 30 January, 1938]. 12 lines on 12mo card.

"...You know I had nothing at all to do with the printing or distribution of the St. Katy book. I have only one copy of it. I really don't know where you can get a copy but I have heard they are rare and expensive. It was a tiny edition, you know. I can only suggest that you ask my publisher... John Steinbeck."
