A THREE PIECE SILVER TEA SERVICE, circa 1790, the teapot mark illegible, the cream jug and covered sugar basin maker's mark of William Forbes, New York, each engraved with bright cut oval cartouche enclosing script foliate monogram, with crossed wreath below, and ribbon tied floral and foliate swag, the teapot engraved front and back, back lacking monogram, with applied beaded moldings, the straight sided oval teapot with straight spout, wood loop handle, the hinged partly raised cover topped by covered urn finial, the vase form sugar basin and helmet form cream jug on incurved scalloped circular pedestal base, the basin with partly waisted cover surmounted by covered urn finial--the sugar basin 10¼in. (26cm.) high, gross weight 40oz. (3)
