AN ITALIAN BAROQUE PARCEL-GILT PIETRA DURA-MOUNTED EBONY AND PALISANDER TABLE CABINET
LATE 18TH CENTURY
With rectangular scrolling pediment surmounted by a gilt bronze mounted horseman on a rearing steed above an architectural superstructure with a balustraded top above an arcaded frontice enclosing a patinated bronze figure of a satyr, the cabinet with a balustrade above a pair of cupboard doors enclosing an interior decorated with gilt scraffito and fitted with ten short drawers centering a cabinet door enclosing three short drawers above a plinth, the back fitted with a concealed long drawer, on gilt bronze scrolling foliate flattened bun feet, mounted throughout with specimen marbles and semi precious stones including porphyry, lapis lazuli, agate, malachite, jasper, and intaglio cameos, after the antique (restorations and replacements)-34½in. (88cm.) high, 21in. (53cm.) wide, 12¾in. (32cm.) deep
