Original art Vampirella, No. 1, 9/69
Original concept art for the cover of Vampirella No. 1. Inspired by Dino De Laurentis' Barbarella, starring Jane Fonda, Jim Warren decided to launch a new magazine. The first issue featured an origin story by legendary horror publisher, Forrest J. Ackerman. The original image and costume was left to Frank Frazetta. Incorporating suggestions from both Warren and Trina Robbins, Frazetta created the sensuous Vampirella, watercolor on paper--4½ x 4 inches.
