CARMINE INFANTINO
Original cover art recreation, 1994
Carmine Infantino began in the comic field during its golden age. He watched the demise of the super hero and nearly experianced the dissolution of the industry. In 1956, along with editor Julie Schwartz, he inaugurated its silver age with the re-introduction of The Flash in DC's Showcase Comics No. 4. Infantino went on to be an award- winning Editor, Publisher and finally President of DC Comics. In the early 1960's, DC received a legal opinion which indicated that a copyright could be compromised should the original art ever be sold. As a result thousands of pages were destroyed. The cover of Showcase No. 4 has likely disappeared in such a manner. Here the artist has recreated the cover in full color for this sale.
Excellent
