Painted on each side in vivid famille rose enamels and gilt with the arms of Lèon of Lèon, Spain flanked by trophies and pennants and beneath a ducal coronet, the borders of gilt bamboo entwined with famille rose blossoming vines (restoration to cover, rabbit's head handles fritted and one rabbit ear chipped)--13in. A plate from an earlier service made for this family was sold by Christie's London, November 2, 1992, lot 41, and a pair of wine coolers from the collection of Charlotte Dorrance Wright at Ravenscliff, St. David's, Pennsylvania were sold there by Christie's June 6, 1978, lot 601.
