JOHN LENNON
A green cotton "army" shirt worn by John Lennon, circa 1972. The military style garment features a US ARMY strip over the left breast pocket; on the right breast pocket a red, yellow and black patch; on the upper left shoulder a black and white patch featuring an American Indian head. On both shoulders are yellow and black purposely inverted Sargeant stripes. On the inside back panel in blue ink is inscribed "To May 1 to 1" John Lennon 23 Aug 1972. The shirt is closely identified with John Lennon; he is pictured wearing the shirt on the cover of IMAGINE sheetmusic and he is seen wearing the shirt in a flashback clip with Tom Hanks on the Dick Cavett Show in the film FOREST GUMP; includes two color photographs--41 1/2 x 42 3/4 in.--framed.
