A LARGE PAIR OF FRENCH BLUE-GROUND OPAQUE-OPALINE VASES with slender oviform bodies and waisted necks, painted in sepia with amatory putti at various pursuits seated on clouds, reserved on purple grounds within elaborate oval gilt foliage scroll cartouches, and with linked loose bouquets within shaped lozenge cartouches edged with gilt foliage scrolls reserved on blue grounds, the circular feet with white and gilt foliage and with wide gilt bands to the rims and footrims (one repaired through lower part), circa 1865
