MAE WEST
A two page typed letter to gossip columnist Louella Parsons. The letter (which was never signed) was written to protest a Sunday Examiner column in which Ms. Parsons gave rival blonde bombshell Jayne Mansfield a favorable review. The letter states in part ... Now comes this dame who can't act for nuts, was a flop on Broadway in a flop show, has a miserable personality, and tries to imitate three or four other stars, including the inimitable Mae West--and she would like to do Mae West's life story...And this Jayne, a phony in all departments, wants to assume without talent, training or background, the fabulous and dynamic personality of Mae West! Included in the lot is a letter from Irving Zussman in which he tells Mae West he planted "a knock" on Mansfield in Earl Wilson's 1956 column; and, an additional typed letter denouncing Jayne Mansfield.
