MARGARET MITCHELL
A 1917 high school "scrapbook" from Washington Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia. On page six in original ink in the first column Margaret Mitchell, then 1149 Peachtree Street; Mar 19-17; and A Book of verses 'neath the bough - A loaf of bread, some dope and thou - good night. Mitchell's reference to "dope" is probably to Coca-Cola, Atlanta's hometown drink. Certainly one of her earliest writings, Mitchell penned the verse in a fellow classmate's book during her tenure at the Seminary (1914-1918). Included with the book is a "memento" book from the school. (2)
