VARIOUS PROPERTIES
The Russian born artist, William Schwartz, emigrated to the United States in 1912 and graduated from the Chicago School of the Art Institute in 1917 with honors in life study, portraiture and general excellence in painting. While he is best known for his visionary oils, Schwartz excelled in watercolors, lithography, murals, and sculpture. His works have been exhibited in museums around the country including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He enjoys a following both in this country and abroad and his works are included in several permanent public collections such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, the Tel Aviv Museum, and the Biro-Bidjan Museum in Russia. Schwartz died in 1977.
