Austrian, Rudolf Lehnert, and his friend Ernest Landrock, a German, were on grand tour in Africa when they decided to open a photographic studio in Tunis in 1904. In 1919 they founded the Kunst Verlag in Leipzig and in 1924, opened a studio in Cairo.
