AN INLAID LACQUER CABINET

The large rectangular cabinet on four straight legs fitted with two large rectangular doors opening to a large interior cabinet, lacking shelves and now lined with paper, and fitted with two square lower doors opening to another cabinet, the two top doors inlaid in mother of pearl with a scene of a villa, fruiting trees and two long-tailed phoenixes within a border of foliate scroll and attenuated fretwork, the two bottom doors inlaid in mother of pearl with a scene of a scholar and attendant at ease under a pine tree near a similar villa and also bordered by foliate scroll, seasonal flower panels and fretwork, the sides inlaid with a panel of willows, birds and a pavilion above another panel above a fisherman and leaping fish, the top and back black lacquer, bronze mounts- 57 1/8 x 29 7/8 x 171/4 in.
