Peugeot is one of the earliest car manufacturers, making the first long-distance cross-country journey undertaken by a petrol driven car. Production increased from 5 in 1891 to 300 in 1899 and the company expanded rapidly opening new factories in Audincourt, Lille and Beaulieu-Valentigney. They produced a wide range of cars from a motor-quad up to two and four-cylinder cars.

This four seater car dates from 1905 and is powered by a vertically mounted single cylinder engine featuring Peugeot's recent innovation, the new mechanically operated inlet valve. Also for the first time on a Peugeot, the 1905 model had moved from chain drive to shaft drive, a feature of this car, and the mechanical water pump driven off the flywheel.

The attractive replica coachwork seats four and is finished in maroon with gold coachlines. The wooden spoked wheels are fitted with Dunlop tyres and there are wooden mud guards. It has been in the same current ownership since 1966 at which time the Peugeot was fully rebuilt. It has not been run since the early 1970s since when it has been a museum exhibit. This delightful veteran car comes with its VCC dating certificate and V5 registration document.
