A well-worked draft from portions of Chapters VI and VII and a fine example of Cooper manuscript. The Water-Witch; or the Skimmer of the Seas was written in Naples and was first published in Dresden in September 1830, a month before the English edition and two months before the American. It is the only book by Cooper to be both printed and published first in Germany. Accompanied by an autograph note signed by Susan Fenimore Cooper attesting that the above manuscript portion is by her father. (2)
