Of shaped circular form, raised on three foliate scroll and rocaille feet, the gadrooned border with acanthus and shells at intervals, the center engraved with a coat-of-arms, crest and motto within foliate scroll mantling, marked on reverse, engraved EH-141, and with Dallas Museum of Art accession number 1987.192--19 1/8in. (48.5cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Strachey, as borne by Richard Strachey of Ashwick Grove, Somerset, 3rd son of Sir Henry Strachey, 1st. Bt. Richard Strachey was born in 1781 and married on June 1, 1830, Anne Maria, daughter of Alexander Powell, M.P., of Hurdcott House, Wiltshire. He died in 1847.
