Of campana form, on spreading circular foot with an acanthus and waterleaf dome rising to a stem with a ring of stiff leaves, the body applied with masks and ivy, with two leaf-clad open handles issuing from acanthus and flowerheads, the circular cover chased with broad radiating flutes and applied at the border with acorns, oak leaves, and various foliage, the raised center surmounted by a cast figure of a horse, one side engraved with inscription The Stand Cup LIVERPOOL AINTREE RACES 1831, marked on rim, base, cover, and finial--16 3/4 in. (42.5 cm.) high
