A PAIR OF VICTORIAN PARCEL-GILT FIGURAL CANDELABRA
LONDON, 1853, MAKER'S MARK OF JOHN S. HUNT
Each on shaped triangular base formed of three cartouches between openwork scrolls extending to form three leaf-clad feet, rising to a base chased to resemble grass upon which a seated putto strums a guitar, and a standing putto carries a basket of bird's nests, surmounted by two intertwined leaf-clad scrolling supports, one with a putto reaching up to a bird's nest, supporting further scrolls and foliage from which issue five scrolling leaf candelarms entwined with ivy and with a shaped circular wax-pan and a flaring urn-form socket fitted with a cylindrical removable nozzle, centering a similar candelarm, one shield on base engraved with a coat of arms, marked on bases, putti, sockets and nozzles--28 1/2 in.
