A FINE GOLD PENDANT CIBORIUM
PORTUGUESE OR BRAZILIAN, MID 18TH CENTURY
Of spherical form, on domed circular foot chased with grapevine and with a gadrooned border, the body divided into five wedge-shaped hinged sections opening to a well chased with a heart and inscription MEMENTO DOMINE DAVID, each section chased on the exterior with a scrolled cartouche with various scenes including the Last Supper, a pelican in her piety, the Agnus Dei, and other symbols, the sections joined at the top by an openwork crown formed of leaves and surmounted by a cross, the whole suspending from a heavy link chain; together with a circular pyx with a circular cover and a filigree finial, chased with stylized foliage and fitting into the interior well, apparently unmarked--5 3/8 in. (13.6 cm.) high
