Lot Essay

Kahuna bowls were used for sorcery. The nails, hair, and certain body fluids of a victim were collected and burnt in them, and the ashes put into his drinking water. If he swallowed them or was made to believe he had, the unfortunate man "took to his mat, wasted away and died (Brigham, 1902, p. 390)."
