A FINE KOTA RELIQUARY GUARDIAN FIGURE, mbulu ngulu

With pierced triangular body, a concave oval face, the quadrants with parallel diagonal relief designs, horizontal crescent eyes, pyramidal nose, flarring crescent above and curving side panels with projections below, decorated with applied brass sheets attached with staples to wood core, lozenge reliefs on flanged panels and in center of top crest, unpolished.
