Depicting a bacchante and cupid rising from clouds draped with grape vines on shaped oblong plinth inset with chased frieze of drunken putti and goats raised on toupie feet, the engine-turned bezel enclosing a white enamel dial painted with floral swags between arabic chapters and including day and date rings, gilt hour and minute hands chased with vines, sun, and star, blued-steel calendar hands, the substantial movement with anchor escapement striking hour and half-hour on bell by means of countwheel with thread suspension to pendulum, 20½in. (52cm.) high
