A LARGE BRONZE INCENSE BURNER AND STAND
MING DYNASTY
The censer cast in low relief with a wide band of taotie masks separated by notched flanges at the corners, with a band of archaistic dragons on the neck and a pair of curved, upright handles, the cover similarly decorated and pierced with shaped apertures below a hollowed, recumbent qilin which forms the finial, the whole raised on four tall paw supports issuing from monster masks which rest in paw-form holders set at each corner of the separate stand which is centered by another recumbent qilin, with greenish patina, crack and area of restoration to censer--32¼in. (82cm.) high
