TANG DYNASTY
Shown standing on a rockwork base with left hand raised in warning and right hand held forward to hold a halberd, wearing layered armor molded with a taotie mask at the waist and monster-mask epaulets at the shoulders, the long skirt painted in red with scrolls, the face modeled with fierce expression and well detailed in black with a short beard and mustache on a flesh-colored ground, all below a cap with upturned rim and ribbed knop, traces of green and orange-red pigment also visible, restored--38½in. (97.8cm.) high
