AN UNUSUAL PAINTED POTTERY FIGURE OF A PRANCING HORSE
TANG DYNASTY

Spiritedly modeled with right foreleg raised, the head with taught, muscular features below laid-back ears and the gracefully arched neck grooved for insertion of a mane, the cloth draped over the saddle roughly textured in imitation of fur, possibly long-haired lamb's wool, and painted in red pigment, with further traces of red, pink and white pigment, restored--25¾in. (65.4cm.) high
