15TH/16TH CENTURY

Of hollow barrel form, painted with a central band of phoenix amidst peony and rockwork interrupted by a pair of molded lion-mask handles, bordered above and below by detached blue bosses, with a band of rocks and waves above the base and floral and cloud motifs below the top centered by a recessed roundel molded with a peony sprig left in the biscuit and encircled by Buddhistic lions and ribbon-tied cash, minor chips, leans--13 1/2 in. (34.4 cm.) high
