A LARGE FAMILLE VERTE CHARGER
KANGXI
Finely painted in the interior with an elaborate audience scene, depicting the arrival of a figure seated in a goat-drawn carriage in the courtyard of a lofty pavilion complex, a group of male figures and children standing in attendance, the surrounding buildings with open terraces depicting women entertaining and preparing food, all within a band at the rim composed of shaped panels of various animals reserved on a dense floral scroll ground, all picked out in shades of green, blue, yellow, iron-red and aubergine enamels, the reverse with an openwork band of interlaced lotus-head scroll, the base with encircled seal-character mark in underglaze blue, rim cracks, wear--24 in. (61cm.) diam.
